Who we are
CLJE Ltd (company number 15599770), registered office 8 Princes Street, Radstock, BA3 3DJ, United Kingdom, is the controller for Privacy Pet Tag. Contact support@privacypettag.com for privacy questions or to exercise your rights.
This policy applies to the Privacy Pet Tag website and service, the Privacy Pet Tag Android app, and any Privacy Pet Tag iOS app released by CLJE Ltd. The mobile apps may present parts of the Privacy Pet Tag service in an embedded web view, so information entered there is handled in the same way as information entered on our website unless this policy says otherwise.
What information we use
We use account/contact and security information; pet profiles, tag assignments, photos and privacy choices; Trusted Contact and household permissions/schedules; finder reports, messages and optional contact, location and images; limited scan/technical records; order, subscription and payment-provider references; support, complaint and rights records; and notification addresses/tokens and delivery state. When you use a mobile app we may also process an app installation/device identifier, push-notification token, platform, app/operating-system version and limited technical information needed to operate and secure the app. We do not use the Android Advertising ID for advertising.
Why we use it
We use this information to provide and secure the service, connect finders with owners and authorised contacts, deliver requested notifications, fulfil orders and subscriptions, verify and manage app-store purchases, deliver mobile push notifications, support users, prevent abuse and meet legal duties. Our bases are mainly contract, legitimate interests, legal obligation and consent where required for an optional activity.
Public profiles and finder reports
Owners choose which eligible pet fields and photos are public. We do not publish the owner's direct contact details. The secure finder route is a core part of every active tag.
Finder information goes privately to the owner and authorised recovery contacts. Name, direct contact, photograph and location are optional. Please do not send unnecessary home, school or other sensitive details.
Marketing and service communications
The launch list is used for the launch notification requested through its sign-up form. Account marketing is optional and off by default. Privacy Pet Tag does not currently send bulk promotional email to account holders. If promotional email is introduced, it will use the applicable permission and opt-out controls. Marketing choices do not stop necessary transactional, security, finder, recovery, subscription, renewal, rights or safety communications.
Who we use to provide the service
We use service providers for hosting, storage, payments, transactional email, mobile push, SMS and related service operation. This includes Backblaze B2, Stripe, Mailjet, Resend and Brevo for transactional email delivery and fallback, Firebase/Google for mobile push, and The SMS Works for SMS. Google Play processes Android app-store purchases and subscription activity. If you choose Privacy Pet Tag's external payment option through Google Play Billing Choice, Stripe processes that payment and Privacy Pet Tag reports the transaction information required by Google's Billing Choice programme to Google. Apple will process relevant app-store activity if and when the iOS app and in-app purchases are launched. Providers receive information needed for their role and are subject to the applicable contractual and data-protection arrangements.
Privacy Pet Tag does not receive or store your full payment-card details when payment is handled by Stripe, Google Play or Apple. We retain the payment, order, subscription and provider references needed to provide the service, handle refunds, keep accounting records and prevent abuse.
International processing
Our primary application and database hosting is in the UK. Backblaze B2 is in US West and has two distinct roles. Database backup objects are encrypted on Privacy Pet Tag-controlled infrastructure before transfer. Separately, processed pet profile/gallery and finder sighting photographs are stored as live media; they are not protected by the same application-level backup encryption. Access is mediated through the Privacy Pet Tag media service.
Transactional email is normally attempted through Mailjet and may automatically fall back to Resend and then Brevo if required. Resend processing includes the United States, and Brevo or its subprocessors may process information internationally. Encryption reduces backup risk but does not remove our processor or international-transfer responsibilities. We use appropriate UK transfer safeguards where required.
How long we keep information
Active mobile push tokens and associated app/device records are kept while needed to provide app notifications and are disabled or removed when they are no longer valid or when the relevant account/device relationship ends. App-store and payment records may be retained where required for subscription administration, refunds, accounting, fraud prevention or legal obligations.
Typical retention is up to 24 months for finder, scan, recovery and security records; 12 months after resolution for precise incident location and finder images; 12 months for delivery logs; 24 months for support; and six years after the relevant financial year for financial records. Pet photos follow the pet/account lifecycle and are deleted from object storage on erasure. Legal holds may extend these periods. Backups rotate on a limited cycle.
Your rights and account deletion
You may ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing relies on it. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Some rights depend on the circumstances and applicable exemptions.
You can request deletion from your signed-in Privacy Pet Tag account or, if you no longer have the app or cannot sign in, through our Account & Data Deletion page or by contacting support@privacypettag.com. Confirmed account deletion removes associated operational account data rather than merely freezing the account, subject to limited information we must retain for legal, accounting, security or fraud-prevention reasons and normal backup expiry.
Accounts and children
Accounts are for people aged 18 or over, but a finder may be any age. The finder journey therefore keeps optional information optional, explains who receives it and does not use finder data for behavioural advertising.
